KEVIN BERKEN:
TESTED LEADERSHIP ON DAY ONE

Kevin Berken has never been one to back down from serving his community.  While others might be content to focus on their careers, Kevin always makes sure he has the time to devote to helping the people of Southwest Louisiana.

As a farmer, Kevin has devoted his experience to numerous agricultural boards and organizations, serving as Chairman for about a dozen organizations. This includes his time as Chairman of the Louisiana Rice Promotion Board, the LA Rice PAC, the USA Rice Federation PAC, and the Jefferson Davis Parish Rice Growers Association.

As a business owner, Kevin also lent his time and expertise to several organizations focused on securing Louisiana’s economic prosperity. Kevin serves on the Jennings American Legion Hospital Board and is currently the Finance Committee Chairman. Kevin also serves as a member of Hospice of Acadiana Board of Directors in Lafayette and is Chairman of the Finance Committee of that organization as well and is a past member of the Agriculture and Business Committee of the Federal Reserve Board of Atlanta. He is a co-founder of the Yellow Rails and Rice Festival which is in its 15th year.

BUT PERHAPS MOST IMPORTANTLY...

As a father, Kevin always makes sure there is time to invest in his family. Whether it was volunteering to coach his son’s football, basketball or baseball teams, or serving on the Our Lady Immaculate School Board as President for six years, and also serving the Notre Dame High School community of Crowley as a Chairman for three out of the four years he served on that board. Kevin has always been involved in his child’s education and wants to make sure you will always have a say in your child’s education. He knows that the best way of ensuring Louisiana has a bright future is by investing in our next generation.

KEVIN BERKEN IS MAKING HIS COMMITMENT TO LOUISIANA

BY ASKING TO SERVE ON BESE

As your BESE representative...

Kevin will take his experience, knowledge, devotion to our community, and leadership skills to ensure that every child in Louisiana receives the education they deserve. That starts by getting back to the basics and ridding our schools of the woke politics and indoctrination that activists have thrust upon our kids.

In addition, Kevin will follow the money and make sure every dollar spent is a dollar spent wisely. It’s a travesty that while Louisiana ranks 8th in the nation in dollars spent per student, we rank 35th in teacher pay. Louisiana spends in excess of $12,000.00 for each student in public schools while most Texas districts spend less than $9,000.00 per student, and generally produce better educational outcomes. And, at $12,000.00 per student with an average of 25 students per class, that is $300,000.00 per class. How much does the teacher receive? Where does the hundreds of thousands of the other money go? Kevin will make sure our tax dollars are used for teaching students, not supporting the bureaucracy. Money that should be spent attracting our best and brightest is being wasted on bureaucracy and bloated administrations. Kevin is the leader we need to improve the education outcome for Louisiana students.

And Kevin Berken will always support choice for parents and students. Parents need to feel empowered when it comes to their children’s education. Kevin firmly believes that the more parents are involved in education, the better outcome for everyone. Students should also be provided with several pathways for careers while in school. While some may choose to go to four-year universities, we should do more in our public institutions to create opportunities for vocational tech and other programs that can lead to good paying jobs right here in Louisiana.

Just remember three simple words “BERKEN FOR BESE”.
